I've been working on my new to me k30 crew cab and I've gotten it fairly reliable. The temperatures are starting to fall and I'm not having much luck tracking down why the blower motor wont work. I've done some searching but I'm not using the right terms I guess. I get power to the box when I turn the fan on. When I select heat I get warm air out of the floor vent but obviously no airflow. Before I spend the money shotgunning parts at it how can I troubleshoot the fan? Thanks.

If the blower motor will run when jumped straight to the battery positive to the motor's power wire, then you'll have determine where the power is being interrupted ,it might be the resistor on the blower housing,a fuse, relay, bad wiring,etc..

I've had more than one blower motor seize up due to lack of lube in the bushings, and a few that had a pen or pencil fall into the defroster duct and jam in the fan--also had more than one blower housing packed full of the jute carpet padding and dead mice too...eck16.gif

I realized what a good idea this was until I looked at the blower motor and remembered I never saw a place to jump it. Where would I go about finding the power connection to the motor to test it?

On my AC truck the fan motor terminals are accessible under the hood.

Thanks for the tips. Replaced the blower and I've got heat. Is the vent position controlled by vacuum or by cable? Only have floor heating but I don't have a vac line ran into the linen coming out of the hvac box.

Vacuum. Have a vacuum gauge? If not buy one and start at back of motor at vacuum line going in to fire wall, then there is a spot under the cowl on pass side you can not see or get that opens and closes check that then there is one in pass kick panel that open and closes door to check.

Had same problem and some jack ass had put a vaccine cap in the hose coming off engine.

Best to start at engine and work back to control head. Just my .02

Remember KISS keep it simple stupid!

I spent 2 hours trying to figure this floor vent out to actually fix problem in 5 mins which honestly was a 10 minute fix!
