blowing ecm i fuse

My truck did something similar last year, went out in the morning, and it wouldn't start, had spark and fuel, just no go,,checked fuses, and same fuse was blown, replaced it and it fired right up, but then died shortly after, after that i had no spark.

Anyways, tore into it, replaced several things, finally found out, something, or somehow, i had burnt out the small coil inside the distributor,,(can't think of it name right off) replaced it, ran for awhile again, and burnt it out once again, went back to the auto parts store, and bought the more expensive unit, replaced it a second time, and has been runnin ever since.

Might be something to check out,,,

It is called a pick-up coil in the dist. This is comon in the TBI vehicles as well as the modules going bad. Also the magnets crack at the reluctor wheel sometimes. You can get the new shaft with the magnets on it from GM.

Any updates on this problem?? I am having the same problem on my 91 S-10....

I hate wiring!!

BTT for an update.......Rob

ive been waiting on my damn wiring diagram i ordered over a week ago. soon as i get it, i will work everyday possible until this problem is fixed. ohhh, and like 2 weeks ago, i was under the hood searching more, and i realized nothing in the ignition system is tied into the fuse block or ecm, i dont know why i decided to think that?? guess i was just thinking i for ignition. but now im not understanding why disconnecting the wires from the msd to the distributor or coil kept the ecm i fuse from blowing, but its not blowing anymore so im not worried about that right now. anyway, i know the fuel pump for sure is on the ecm b fuse, but i dont know what else is on it, or the ecm i fuse? anybody know?
