Was messing around under the Blazer today and seen the passenger rear shock had fluid all down it , etc. So I guess it leaked or what not. It was the shocks that came with the RUff COuntry spring kit. ANyways. Im looking for a some new shocks. I dont want the bottom of the barrel cheapo ones but dont want high end, so recommend me a middle of the road good shock. Oh I have 2" lift if that matters.

Thanks

Just put a set of Rancho RS9000XLs on my 2500HD DD. It's got a 6" Superlift and I can tell you that these shocks make a BIG difference. Just got them on earlier today, so I'm still playing with the settings :D.
Those bad boys were only $91 each and I got the buy 3 get the 4th one free deal plus free shipping from 4WP. BTW, they are some really sexy looking shocks with the nice metallic silver color. Just gotta convince the boss that I need some for the Jimmy now !

I like my Pro-Comp shocks, they work great. $hit-can the boot idea, they just hold gunk and moisture!!

No offense to anyone that runs them...but personally I would never pay $91/each for Rancho 9000's when I can (and did) buy Bilstein 5150 monotube shocks with remote resevoirs for $100/each.

The 5150 is an excellent mid priced shock, and monotube shocks are vastly superior to the old twin tube.

I see 4WPs has them, but they have diff. sizes for travel. WHich do I get for a 2" lift?

Actually, I only paid $68.25 each :D. And for my DD I like the adjustability. It's a HD truck so the ride needed help.
But I would definitely second the 5150s, especially with the RR. That's a nice damper for $100. Too bad they never give the 4th away for free!

Low end cheapness go with the Rough Country Nitro 9000's. Nitrogen charged monotubes = good ride, decent quality, and $35 or so each from JCWhitney.

The best you can get without breaking the bank are the Bilstein series. HD's, 5100's, and 5150's are all great and as said above, won't kill you.

Frankly, you need to figure out your extended and collapsed shock dimensions. Go flex the wee out of it and grab a tape measure and a pad and pencil. Only true way you will figure out what you need. A lot of the lift makers are rather conservative on their measurements for their lift shocks...others seem to just not care and sell short shocks.

Well I called Rough country, they are sending me a replacement. So for now ill go the cheap (free) route. I want to do a prerunner setup (coil overs & 4 link in the back). So this will save me some money til that happens. Pretty good customer service from Rough Country. not thrilled that a shock gave out, not sure how it happened oh well.
