Curious for anyone who has used Blueprint engine in their Blazers. Any issues in the cooling department? Were you able to use the stock system or any major mods? Also what headers have folks used if any? Truck back in Tucson now so was going to get the motor ordered. Trying to sort the engine department area out now. Hope to pull old motor in a couple of weeks. A friend is going to get the tranny and tcase pulled next week to go through it. appreciate any feedback

i know a few 1/8 and 1/4 mile drag guys beating the crap out of there b.p.e motors and love them .

there just a sbc or bbc for what you need . check notes if requires a special part is all .

Which Blueprint engine? They're pretty standard sbc stuff. I have the 396 cid stroker sbc from Blueprint in my 57 Pontiac. Aside from the exhaust ports being raised .500" everything else is pretty standard.

I've put a deposit on a 350 motor. I looked into a rebuild of original and the wait is to long. Also called a few folks about a Chevy 350 and they were months out on getting any back in stock. BPE has a 350 on shelf and will ship out next week. At this point they getting the business but never know

I was very impressed with mine when it showed up. They cast their own blocks, and IMO the accuracy and quality is better than stock GM castings from back in the day. I dialed in my bellhousing to see if it needed offset dowels or anything...but it didn't. It was within .003". I'm not sure if they use the exact same block for all the 350's but mine has splayed 4 bolt mains which is a great upgrade too.
It's also cool they run every engine in on their dyno, and provide you with the dyno sheet.

How many Horse power Blue Print engine did you order? is it a pan to carb engine or are some of the old engine parts being tranfered.
If parts of the engine are aluminum update to an aluminium radiator and heater core. This is to help with electrolysis, use dexcool with aluminium rads. Caution Dexcool in brass rads will eat the solder.

Being in Tuson you definitely will need the cooling system to be in top shape, the ac system too. Thermostat temp 160°-180°, no 195s.
If you are going to off road any suggest an eletric fan conversion. I do 1 trail and the rsn clutch fails, maybe not that bad but seem like. Cause is frame flexing and fan hitting shroud.
Additional external trans cooler, a good size one. Assuming auto trans.
If your ac condenser is not leaking there is no need to up date to a parallel flow style.
I think the oris bigger then the new replacements.
Have been fine tuning my cooling system for Az for a few years. My worked great until I truned the AC on then temp would creep. I mistakenly suspected the cooling system and not the ac system. Well it appears the high pressure switch is stuck closed, so my compressor never cycles. This can put 475°F+ temps on the high side. Inspection of the ac controls is encouraged.
Ask any questions you have we'll try to answer

I just put a deposit on the motor for now, it’s a 341hp that’s on hold for me. I have been looking at the Chevy turn key motor also which I am actually leaning towards at this point. I like the fact that I think it will be easier to get things for it and fit easier if need be. I’ll know Monday which one I’m getting. I’m going to go over to aluminum radiator as well . I wanted a Mishimoto as I have one in my 12v dodge that has been excellent but they are discontinuing the one they currently carry so still hunting on that, heater core and ac condenser gonna be replaced as well.
No need for tranny cooler it being a manual transmission and I do not do much 4 wheeling and nothing heavy at all
Engine will be full dress so all front items new including AC and nothing carrying over from current engine although I am keeping everything from the vehicle that gets removed.
AC controls definitely need looking at as fan stays on once key is on so something up there. At least I have it home now. Cooler weather here and perfect time to get things done in AZ
