Hi all,

I've been looking around for a long while (over a year) for body crossmembers. Specifically the ones that cross under the rear floor over the frame rails. I think there is 6 total, it looks to me that the one that is under the rear seats ( I have a v1500 suburban, I have no clue what or how many xmbrs are on a blazer) is the same as the one under the barn doors. I started today at lunch making one. It is the one that is directly above the rear axle, just forward of it. Short of cutting up another body to get the parts I need (there is nothing around here in Indiana that will allow it to happen) I decided to try this approach.

What does everyone else do and or use for replacing them? Show me what you did if you don't mind please

your new ones look just as good as the factory ones.

Im not sure even if you could buy aftermarket ones?

Nice job BTW

I just posted these pics like an hour ago. Here's what I used with my rear floor for my K5.

I think I have five across from left to right.

63chevyll - thanks, I've been wanting to purchase them and haven't been able to find anything. Asked our resident body wizard, he suggested to fab something up so I have to give Ryoken the credit for it!!!

utterjorge - I was going to do that but with my suburban the different positions of crossmembers are different heights, so I wasn't about to by a stick of tube for 50". Have you put any thought into how you were going to protect your tubing from rust and chit from getting in it? going to weld caps on it or just dunk it in paint? That's another reason I didn't want to run with tubing. I hate replacing tubing, it normally rusts from the inside out.

Mud, that's a great point.

No, no thought on what I'll do, but I have a few options. Before I drive it around in the rain and what not, I have a lot of work to do underneath, sealing and what not. Fair point about sealing that stuff.
