When I got the truck I put on a 1” ORD body lift and new bushings along with a 4” ORD custom leaf spring lift and 37’s. The aggravating part is I have to air the tires down to about 5psi to pull it in and out of the garage and doing some quick measuring I’m about an inch and a half short of fitting in at full pressure. Makes it a chore when you want to just hop in and make a beer run.

So I’m debating yanking the body lift off. I put it on because I like the room it gave me to get to things high up on the drive train (top of the gas tank for example) and give me some more fender clearance. Truthfully, I could take it or leave it. I’ll trim the fenders some more if I need to. What are y’all’s thoughts on body lifts? Useful or just meh?

I’d yank it if you need or want it in the garage. Mine doesn’t fit in the garage but we have a bigger driveway, you can park 4 cars on it if needed. So there, the Blazer lives...

I remember when we got this house debating doing what you, air down drive in, put some air in tires as it sits, air down pull out of garage, air up to run errand... way to much of a hassle. Driveway it stays. I will get covers for the tires when summer hits though. The AZ heat is too much

I didn’t do it on the k10. Maybe had to trim some more because of tire humpage on the Fender’s
My k5 had a body lift (well, actual hockey pucks)
I didn’t feel that it was necessary, and using a mechanical clutch it also changed some on how the clutch adjusted

nekkid and no

When I got it it wouldn’t come close to fitting with the bro dozer 38’s on 20’s and 6” suspension 3” body lift. After the upgrades it’ll fit and I prefer my vehicles stay in the garage. Especially this one with no doors or top haha. I just want to make it easier to get in and run errands.

The real problem is that people keep building houses with 7' garage doors. If you're lucky, you have a 9' or 10' ceiling and could go to a bigger door.

I've posted this many times, but there are some subtle things you can do to get another inch or two. Even a 7' opening often has the trim and seals making it more like 6'10". Look carefully at what can be relocated.

It fits once in the garage at full pressure. But there’s no wiggle room to move the door up without serious work. Stucco, sheetrock, framing, etc. The top scrapes as it is even at 5psi. Truck measures out at 83.5” and the opening is right at 82.25”.

Just took another look and it looks like I can pop the trim piece off and gain another 1/2”. I’ll just need to install the seal to the main header.

Front and rear winches, then pull down tabs on the axle like serious rock crawlers use :waytogo:.
Just suck it down to run it in, and let it back up when you pull out

Good idea but I’ve only got enough space to walk around one end or the other with the front winch on much less adding another. Although I have thought about moving the front winch closer in to the radiator and then I could remove the hitch from the rear and recess mount a rear winch. Decisions decisions.

Just try pulling the front down. May be enough.

Yeah, these are the kind of things I'm talking about. Moving the top seal from the header to the door can gain 5/8". Every bit counts when it's rubbing.

Also good to check forward and reverse. Driveway slope can make one better than the other.

if you do pull it, I may be interested in buying it

I’m pretty much convinced to yank it. When is the question now. Daughter starts t-ball tomorrow and it’s a 4 day a week thing. So if you aren’t in a rush I’ll hit you up when I get it pulled.
