I’m going to be replacing all the body mounts on my K5. I’ll likely go with poly bushing mostly because they’re everywhere. Does anyone have recommendations? I’m looking for middle of the road, ideally not over $120. Thanks.
The mounts I purchased from ORD had energy suspension instructions with them.Daystar poly mounts work well and I’m pretty sure that’s what ORD sells.
Yeah I checked lmc they’re all back ordered and $200+ I am kinda anal about the bumpers if I’m being honest and I’ve seen body lifted k5s before an I’m not a fan. I know one inch isn’t crazy by any means but it would still throw off the look a little. As far as taking them out I got them all yesterday. My front passenger one wasn’t even there, the two middle ones on the passenger side came out no problem, I didn’t even try turning the one in the back I just cut off the head the floor was too rusty. The driver side ones I ended up breaking or cutting off all but one. I figured the rubber would be a better ride but I won’t be off roading beyond back roads or maybe a beach and I think the longevity will pay off in the end. That was my thought anyway. I ordered the poly ones yesterday. I really appreciate all opinions and Insight though.I have replaced body mount bushings with rubber and poly on separate trucks. LMCs rubber replacement bushing kit is a way nicer setup. It even comes with the steel cups. IMO this is the way to go.
The poly bushings squish and move a lot, especially offroad. They also don't quite fit right.
I agree this that this is a great time for a 1 inch body lift if you're not anal about where your bumpers line up. I'm not familiar with your rig, but I wouldn't put these into a really nice street truck. The bumpers end up looking a little off.
If your truck is not relatively rust free, this job can be a mess. The rear carriage bolts can be pretty difficult to get out, and the cab bolts can break loose the captured nuts and require cutting holes in the floor. It's not always as easy a project as some let on.
