All,
I have a 1984 Longbed K30. Awesome Truck. Factory Big Block, blah blah. But I wheel the heck out of it, and the sheetmetal is now so warped and dented that I am beginning to have trouble rolling up the windows, and getting the doors to close, etc. Total Raisin.

I have been considering rebodying it (just thinking at this point).

So my questions are:

1.) Did the earlier body style trucks (73-81ish) use the same body mounts? Could I pull a complete bed and fenders and hood/core off one of those?

2.) Will the older style doors mount to the newer cab? Or would I have to pull the cab and swap that as well (which would be more of hassle, of course)

Just thinking through options. Thanks!

P.S. If the older body trick worked, then theoretically, I could "morph" the truck into a pre-smog rig (CA) buy buying a complete donor and VIN. Plus, the K30 is expensive to register every year, because it is a "commercial" vehicle.

It's do-able. You will have to use the rubber or poly mounts for the 73-80 truck, or space up the rear cab mounts, but the holes are all in the same place. Your front bumper will line up weird too, but it's a pretty easy swap.
