My springbreak project is going to be body mounts and ORD's 1" body lift on my burb..

Having never done that(which is the case for everything I do it seems :doah:), is there anything I should know?

From what I gather most of my linkages should be okay, but I should disconnect the transmission shifter. Will the transfer case shifter be okay?

I know the tanks gotta come out... two of the mounts are up above it :doah:

Anything else? I figure it can't be too hard, at least not more so than putting the suspension lift in.

I'd take the rubber boot off the t-case shifter, just to avoid damaging it as the body shifts around.

If it were me I'd also undo the rag joint at the steering box.

Other than that, break out the 2x4's...

once you get everything loose, remove and install one whole side.. leaving the bolts a little loose.. then do the other side, tighten everything up...

more than likely have to trim your shroud a tad...

If your Burb has a tailgate (instead of doors) watch out for the assist spring as they are hooked to the frame and will limit your being able to lift the tail end of the body.

No tailgate here :D

I assume some of the bolts come out from the bottom and some from inside the cab looking at it? This truck has zero rust and I have not had any issues getting bolts out.

Thanks guys for the help.. appreciate it.

Me too. Since one of the back ones fell up last time I wheeled it! :(

That's why I'm doing mine.. they are starting to fall apart.. just drying out with age. Haven't lost any yet, but they are sagging bad.

Did anyone ever have to modify the shifter linkage for the transmission? I don't have the means to lengthen it..

Which truck (tranny)? If it's a TH350 or 400, there's prolly an inch of rod left over, so you'd just adjust down. 700's I don't know about, might be the same.

If it's not long enough, you can un-dingle the adjustable rod, take it to a shop or a local member with a welder, who sticks an inch or two on the end, grinds it, and you go and put the truck back together.

It's solid rod, like maybe 1/4", so you can buy a chunk at the local hardware store, or worst case, use a piece of a screwdriver shank :haha:
