body mounts

I have a set of body mounts that were suppose to originally go on my 78', but now I have a newer truck and I am replacing the rear floor and decided it might be a good time to replace the mounts since they are destroyed. My question is will mounts from a 78 work on an 87', I compared mount to mount and everthing looks the same, height and width. Is it possible to use these mounts on my newer truck and how do you feel about body lifts? Thank, Pete.

<font color=purple> I don't know why they wouldn't work if they're the same size and everything .......... a lot of guys on here don't care for the body lift but I kind of like them, I'll be putting on a 2" when I get to my project like yours.

You might want to check the diameter of the the hole in the frame mount. I did something similar, tried to put 87' rubber mounts in an 77' frame. The diameter on the 87's were to big to fit in the 77' frame. This was on a suburban though, your application may be different.

I've got a 3" Trailmaster bodylift and had no problems with it but fun installing at the back mounts.

the only problem I've had with the body lift in my 87 is that I can't get into 1st gear.. the linkage for the trans got screwed up because of the lift. I wouldn't go to extremes like my 3" body lift without going to a cable shifter first
