Does any k5 door line up perfectly? I see most stic out on the bottom by rocker is this a factory design flaw or what its pissing me off. The doors fit the quarters and fenders but not as tight as id like on the rockers. And no the rockers arent hacked there original it was a very clean truck i started with. Shes from utah never seen salt and only59,000 miles.

it can take a bit of work to get them right. Shimming and adjusting the hinges both on the doors and on the cab.

You may need to move the fenders to match the doors.

move the bottom in... if it's sticking out from the factory rocker, than it's out with the bottom of the qrter...

fenders are totally secondary, they bolt on, can be shimmed, etc.... you need to align off the qrter..

but yes, these rigs don't have the best sheetmetal stampings/alignment.. they ain't no Lexus..

I recently adjusted mine and got the door to line up well with the quarter and rocker panels; then the fenders lined up to the doors pretty easily. Where I had trouble was lining up to the A pillar up the winshield. There was no way to get it gapped properly without throwing something else off. As already stated, these trucks were never perfect - you may have to compromise somewhere...

Oh yes they are not that good. My passenger door has stuck out at the bottom ever sense it was new, and have try to fix it more then once with no luck.

When I was aligning one of my doors I literally had to brace myself against the door then pull the top towards me to get it even with the cab. The top was pushing out away from the A puller.

If you are having the problem I also used a 2x4 against the cab and pushed the door back in mine was warped.

bending/twisting panels is common in the autobody biz.. you'd be amazed what I can do with a 4x4 of lumber.. :haha: especially all the cars in the last 20 yrs being all tinfoil-like...

top of the door in too much when you adjust the bottom in? put a 4x4 up top and give the door a good shove towards closing... disclaimer: bend body panels at your own peril...

I bent the top of doors in fits good now for a 77 blazer lol. Im gonna do a whole build thread ive been taking pictures. Once shes all done ill post em up!

I got a problem like that, it makes driving in the rain a bit cold, for my left knee.

The top of the driver's door is so far out water will drip in, on my knee, which gets annoying.

If it rains during the night, I will come out to find a wet spot on the floor.

My passenger door is perfect, top and bottom, but the top of the driver's door sticks out a little past the drip rail.
