Hello all,

I am a first time poster here so please forgive me if I am in the wrong section. My frustrations have been mounting over the past few days.

Ok here is the problem-- I have my '85 M1009 blazer in the shop to get some rust repair done, namely the rocker panels and the adjacent drain channel that is under the aluminum sill plate in the doorway ... LMC truck did not show a repair panel for just the drain channel but rather shows it as a part of their front and rear cab floor sections. I ordered both and the panels are the biggest load of chinese-made *crap* I have ever seen (The drain channels on the front and rear cab floor sections are two different sizes and do not line up). The only LMC part that lines up somewhat is the outer rocker panel. What I need is a source for the drain channel that runs the length of the doorway between the cab floor and the rocker. What is everyones' take on this-- where can I get decent panels that will actually fit in the truck -- as a side note, I prefer American made parts and will pay extra for them, but at this point will take anything that will actually line up...... My AOL email is WSMCO-- If anyone has any leads, please let me know........

thanks
Ziggy

ive shared your frustration, really to get it just right one option is to buy a cheap press brake or maybe make the channel your self. Its a simple piece and with a little effort can be very rewarding. Ive done the afermarket cheap rockers, while frustrating you can massage almost anything to work.

last option is to have someone cut the piece out of a cab and send it to you, in some ways that is a easier option, but can be a challange if your not too savvy with a welder or patience

pst some pics

i literally just finished doing the same repair.

i just cut and puzzled the rockers in, and made my own channel out of 18 ga. flat stock. i just c-gripped it to a steel bench, and made my bends with a sledge hammer. with a little patience and some finesse, you sould be able to make it look nice while tieing the rocker in sturdy and stout.
