so, is the tailgate from a pickup a direct bolt in(w/pickup hardware)?

is there a way to lock it(i might just put a padlock on the inside)?

has anyone installed a truck tailgate, then fastened plexiglass or something on the window opening to still keep the hardtop relatively weathertight?(i will be removing the hardtop in warm weather)

and this will allow me to toss my siezed OE tailgate hinges, right?

it is not a "bolt on" swap, i believe there is some measuring and drilling involved
in order to put the hunges and latch on but i dont think its to hard, i forget how my buddy did it on his 82 K-5
i know he did it in an afternoon and i know he didnt use the original hinges (K-5 hinge) but i believe he used the ones from the pickup.
