Just curious, when doing a swap (moving body from one frame to another) is it a big problem getting things straight? The mechanics of it are easy but how hard is it to get the body straight in relation to the frame. I don't want my junk dog leggin down the road. :doah: :D

shouldn't dog leg unless you're moving the rearend itself IMO. body just bolts up to the frame and shouldn't have that much wiggle room. most doglegging i've saw is from someone changing the rearend and not doing it right

Dog legging has nothing to do with a body, that is caused by the axle shifting sideways.

With new body bushings and hardware, everything will line up just like new. I've done 6 burb swaps and 4 K5 swaps to date and they all went without a hitch :thumb:

Excellent, just trying to put last minute worries to rest. Thanks guys! :thumb:

Yeah I just swapped cabs on a cucv, and it was easy enough after I sat it on the frame, I could move it around, just picked up each side by the door hinges, and rocker panel and moved it around. Now a sub is a different story...

John what are you working on over there?

91 K5. Mine came with a free bent frame and after 3 yrs I'm finally at a point where I'm ready to move the tub to a good frame. :woot: It's the same one listed in my profile, hopefully I can get this pile of parts assembled and burning gas by the end of the year.

Awesome, how did you prep the new frame? If you need a strong back some time, just let me know, the weekends are usually free, and you're only like 2 hours away!:D

Nothing crazy on prep - reg Krylon paint, removed a lot of extra brackets and added B52's and a small shackle flip.

Thanks for the offer to help but we'll be swapping the body tomorrow. I have a friend that said we could do it at his shop using a lift, hopefully we'll be done by lunch. Unfortunately it's going to rain all weekend so I probably wont get to do much once it's back home.

My next question was about the weather over there. It's already cloudy here, and all the crap that yall are about to get, we'll be getting right after yall...

Yeah, it's real overcast here but nothing yet. It's funny, if you watch the Weather Channel they're making it out to be an actual storm but if you check the bouys it's only about 25~30 mph. I can fart harder than that. :surepal:

Was it hard to swap your body to a different frame? I want to swap my 1975 K5 4WD drive body to my 1980 2WD K5 frame. Do you think it will work?

Can you help me I want to do a body swap. I have a 1975 4WD K5 Blazer body I want to put it on my 1980 2WD K5 Blazer frame. Will it bolt up or is it a big problem to do.
