ok so i have a 79 k5 blazer and of course it got the typical cancer. i have come across a 85 body would it fit my frame with out alot of trouble???
im keeping the 79 front end ? anyone done this before???

The only concern would be if the floor is the same. I can't remember which year they changed it, but the earlier 70's k5's had a completely flat floor in front of the back seat whereas the 80's had a drop in the floor in front of the back seat. Maybe Someone who knows for sure can confirm which year it changed...

the floor changed in 78, to the drop style behind the front seats, more legroom for the rear passengers.

the floor is the same as far as i can tell in the 79 body as in the 85 body. does any one know if the body mounts are the same?

The tub will fit your frame just fine. The dropped floor and outboard body mounts all occurred at the same time, '78. 78-91 are direct bolt ons on a 78-91 frame.

You'll need to dink around with the wiper motor, linkage and stubs to run the early front end with the newer tub though. Not terribly hard.

And the other thing that is different in the 81-91 frames is the bumper, so if you get the frame with bumpers you are good to go.:thumb:

Remember, as long as you have a way to cut metal and a way to weld it back together it can be done!!! Never give up and say no. Anything is possibly with inginuity. If there is a will there most certainly is a way.
