All right think I finally found a donor for my 85 4wd cc dually,an 84 cc 2wd dually! I havent done this in a while sooooo what do i need to watch for? Will the low hump work or will I definetly need the high hump? Do i need to drop the tanks to get to the back most body mounts? I will be switching bb's from the 85's 366/427 to the 84's 454 and putting the 85 nose on the 84 because its in better shape. Also will be switching the beds, but only because the 84 is factory dually and the 85 was converted. Are there any electrical/wiring issues, the donor is a a/c cab the one coming off is not and i would like to keep the a/c(supposedly works). How about the body mounts 2wd vs 4wd any differences? I would like to do it as quickly and painlessly as possible so any input or shortcuts will be greatly appreciated!! The best thing is they are both white!!! Forgot to add the 4wd is a 400/205. Lastly is there a market for all the left over 2wd stuff?
thanx scott

nuthin boys?

I'll bite.

The body/beds/front should swap fairly easily. The mounts on the body should be in the same place from 2wd to 4wd. You don't need to drop the tanks to get the the rear mounts (atleast on a single cab, never done a CC). The wiring should be plug in and go. I wouldn't even bother trying to swap the 85's in. Just unplug everything that is comming out of your cab...and do the same on the donor. I'm not to sure on the floor. IIRC, some trucks had a removable trans hump. If yours are like this, it will have some bolts around the perimiter. Even if only one of the trucks has it...it'll make the change easier.

I don't know how quickly you will be able to accomplish this though. I did a cab swap on my 77 K20. It took about a weekend to get it completly done. I was driving it after the first day...but there was no windshield (donors was cracked so I took it out), doors, front clip or back window. Also, don't forget the parking brake cable...I seem to forget that everytime I remove a body from a frame.:doah:
