Has anyone thought of using this type of collar to make a bolt in roll cage?
rockhard4x4parts.com/fab-collars (I can't post a hyperlink yet)
Just looking for your opinions on such an item for use on a interior cage. Maybe even removable door bars?

Here's the link.

It looks to me that those are intended to have something welded to them such that you can remove it later if you want (like a cupholder or fire extinguisher, that kind of stuff).

You could also just bolt through the plates at the end of the various cage chunks.

Those collars are clever and useful for mounting accessories. Depending on orientation you might do a removable door bar or cross-member or something... but I suspect many folks would rather the simplicity of a welded junction.

I'm not sure what you mean. More explanation please.

Also, if you look at the same site as above, they use those clamps to add on to an existing cage in a jeep. They just weld the new tubing to the clamps and bolt it on.

Hollister, CA Blazerfest

Does anyone happen to know when the next Blazer fest is in Hollister, CA?

I know my question was random, but I'm new to the forum. Any info to my question would be great, or info on where to find an answer.

To answer your question, yes, lots of people do. :D [Hint: like Blazerbash, it's held more or less at the same time every year, and hint, start a new thread for a new topic :deal: ]

Umm, I meant the square plates that you put at the feet of your roll cage that bolt to the body. Some folks weld them in, others bolt them.

As seen there... the cage unbolts, see. (And there are plates that bolt to the other side, sandwiching the sheetmetal between them ... and yes, the bottom plates are different sizes than the top ones so as not to stress the sheetmetal so easily.)

Nice to see we have lots of people trying to help the new guys. I tried posting a new thread and I can't. I saw a member here from California and thought I could get some help. So far it seems like there's more sarcasm here then when I was in the military. Sorry to everyone for going off subject. And the best way to add a bolt in roll cage is to start with tubing welded to the frame rail as the sheet metal is weaker if a roll over shall occur!

Have a read through this...

The reason you couldn't start a new thread in the other forum is because the other forums are a pay to play feature here...

Welcome to CK5..

I understand that you can bolt the "feet" to the floor. If I weld it all together outside my pickup I can't get it in. I'm just being lazy and trying to find a way to "bolt" it together where I can't get at it to weld. I only have a 110v mig and a stick welder at my house, but if I could weld some "brackets" on certain portions of the cage I could bring it back to my house and stick it in the cab and then bolt it together.

I forgot to add, those ID clamps look like they could be the ticket. Thanks.

The ballistic fab pieces work great. The only complaint is that once you take it apart, if everything is not perfectly lined up, they are hard to get back together.

Using them in a hoop or main support is not recommended. If they are used for minor bracing tubes, it would be OK in a slow go over. I would never use one for a 50+mph cage.

what about the staked cage flanges that DIY4x has with the antisheer center pin. those might be the ticket for what you're looking to do. ;)

Can you try bolting a couple of the individual hoops together in the truck and then welding in the support bars? That way all the welding that's left is at the top where it's easier to access.
