I`ve got my x-member for the pickup cab to mount on my frame.

Normally, there would be three plates coming off the bracket to weld onto the frame. My question is, since when trucknutzdude removed it, he cut the piece of frame out that he welded it too, can I just grind it flat, and drill it it bolt it, using 3 or 4 grade 8 bolts?

Here`s some better pics for clarification

red arrow is the edge I need to grind flat

red dots would be the mounting holes

I would do both if you could. But also I see no reason why grade 8 bolts would not work. I would be more worried about the weak frame that I was bolting it to.

Yeah, I agree, but it`s been done by quite a few members who wheel the snot out of their rigs, and have no issues thus far.:wink1:

I figure 3 or 4 bolts on both sides should hold it plenty. Maybe make an an adittional plate to go on the underside of the frame rail, to sandwhich it persay, it seems that would add quite a bit of strength to the mounting surface.

I think bolting it on would be fine, sandwiching it would be a good idea as well. Looks like your mount sits a little higher up, thats good because the rear of my cab is sitting a little low
