Bolt pattern on 8 lug 2011 GM trucks different!

Don't know if it's been posted already or not - but

Just learned today that GM changed the bolt pattern on the 2011 HD trucks to 8 on 180 mm.

Just wanted to give a heads up on that - to forum before someone goes and buys take off wheels from an '11 for their rig.

yeah they are freaking out! I think 10 bolt would be better than the 8x180 setup, kinda stupid to make their own spacing. Might fail like the 7 lug fords.

I don't see the big deal, it's not like you can't convert if you REALLY REALLY wanted the new wheels.

10 bolt or one of the 6 x huge or more patterns probably would have made sense.

Probably just them going "8 lug nuts are cheaper than 10" and/or the fact that this makes their wheels unique from the competitors.

is GM really saving money making 2 different patterns? y not make both SRW and DRW the higher GVWR 210mm pattern? engineers dont make much sense to me sometimes

Several thoughts.

As I own a 2010 F350 and an '84 K5 I always support SFA trucks.

Ford has an F450 super duty to make their GVWR claims, which is a ten lug truck.

GM could have offered a 4500 with a pickup bed.

All this change will do is make aftermarket wheels more expensive for '11 owners.

I have always praised the interchangability of GM trucks. This does disappoint me to see them leave the 8 on 6.5 pattern behind.

Besides, we all know, GM quit making real trucks after 1991 anyways. That was when they went to the lowrider IFS crap they offer now.
