books on edible things

Would any book be okay? Or can anyone recommend one to me? I want to find out what berries, roots, bark, plants, etc. are edible and what aren't and what they do to you, etc. Stuff you'd find all over north america hiking/camping/backpacking...

anyone? thanks. Don't need to kill myself eating some poinsionus berries.
