Because of my daughter's accident, I decided to swap in a new Borgeson steering shaft. After install, I now can hear the steering pump swooshing noise when I turn the wheel. It's not loud or anything, just something new. I did notice there really isn't any rubber type of vibration absorber in there...just one continuous metal connections all the way up.

The Jeep XJ I had before had a small coupler at the top which I assume was some type of rubber isolation unit. There is no such thing on the Borgeson shaft.

It makes sense, but surprised to hear it actually.

I did also replace the lower steering shaft bearing while I had the old one out. Still moves ever so slightly, like just a hair. It was an aftermarket one from Amazon so don't know if that has something to do with it.....

Borgeson shaft itself is tight.

I do not think this will solve your problem, but FWIR those Borgenson steering shafts are only designed to fit Borgenson steering columns. Borgenson steering columns have a splined end on the steering shaft side, while factory stock steering columns have a "D" shaped shaft on the steering shaft side.

Don't know if it's worth it to you, but Borgeson offers a vibration joint.

I was looking on Amazon and saw some type of vibration joint from them. Feedback wasn't very good though...sounds like they don't last very long.

I don't know, maybe put the XJ shaft back in?! The only issue I have with the XJ shaft is I can't get it to collapse. The plastic between the two sleeves must really grip it good.

I'll drive it around and see if it still bugs me....

It did say it's specific for our truck, just had to trim off the end a bit...so in that respect, a little universal. But it did bolt straight in. Both ends fit factory steering box and steering column.
