Get this out of the way right now.... I'm just echoing what the UNIVERSE already knows...
A 50 series Flow Master sounds the best on anything, even UR MOM.

Ok, that's out of the way :D
I like the sound, it's not the best performing muffler out there but it's got the sound. Straight through packed mufflers, to me, sound like a finely tuned tuba while I'm looking more for Animal on the drums.

I've had a 50 series on my 4.3 S10. Dual 2.5" 50s on 5.3 '68. Single 3" on Bender. I like it :D

I would love to get the sound my '68 had with dual 50s and an H pipe. God that truck sounded good. I doubt the 400sbc would sing the same but I don't mind trying on Plank, my Nova, however I'm worried about the drone inside that car. Might get annoying, quick. Granted, I'm not sure if these mufflers HAVE drone. 2 where under truck beds and Bender... well... it's got lots of other noises and no doors. What drone?

Plank is as quiet as the Kardashians and as sealed as the Titanic. No carpet or weather strip. Is there another choice for dual 2.5" mufflers that has the Animal sound but without any drone?

I personally prefer the 80 series on anything I drive more than a minute

Fact of the matter is that the longer mufflers are quieter and the volume "cubic feet" inside is inverse to the volume "dB". No cat is louder than cat. Longer pipes is quieter than shorter ones. Getting the tips past the rear bumper helps a lot. Almost anything dumping under the car will drone. However, if you can run that car with the back window down, you should look at side exit(s).

I've always been curious what 2 50-series in series would sound like. Or do one of those dual-in/dual out Flow masters (/clones) and then another 50 muffler on the way to each tailpipe. Also, a resonator helps a lot with drone. Like a huge packed one (or 2). I don't know how much it takes the fangs out of the tone.

But yeah, there's a big difference between sounding rad taking off and being fun for hours on the road.

I had/have 50 series flow masters on my 66 Chevelle,h pipe, tails out at the bumper turn downs. Lived the sound, could converse in car at cruise.

have a single 50 3" fliw master on 77 burb, driverside exit behind tire, and hate it

Others have comented on hiw it sounds they seem to like it.:dunno:

I have a big 3" no name muffler on my diesel suburban, I was told by many that they love the throaty exhaust sound at idle and just off idle.
While driving if you have the windows open you can hear the mild growl but windows up, you barely notice it.
You can hear more the wind from bad window seals. I have driven it for hours and up the hill and it's very mild.
I do like my quiet 98 better though, no exhaust sound, no wind noise just a woosh when I punch it.

I have Black Widow Venom 250's on my K5. True dual, Hedman headers, no cats. No real drone to speak of but they bark when you're on it.

I doubt you have the space for it but...................Flomaster 70 series is magic. I'm running one on my 68 K10. Dual 2.5" in and single 3" out. It, hands down, is the most complemented exhaust I have ever had. Downside is that is LARGE.

No drone on mine. I have a borla after the cat on my vw and it is no drone. I've been really happy with the borla mufflers too.

Are any of these brands drone? Do they have packing? Thanks
3” thrush on two different vehicles. No drone. Neither are suburbans or big open void vehicles. One car, one single cab

Is flowmaster still made in the USA?
Borla sure makes a point of advertising that on Summit. FlowMaster's website doesn't say but Google AI is saying yes, in CA of all states lol

I have a Flowmaster Super 44. I have a turn down that dumps right under the axle. It’s loud (when I drive past a vehicle that has a car alarms, it’ll set it off). I love the sound though…for me, its all part of the experience of driving
