i installed a head unit in my bosses daughters 92 nissan maxima.

it has a bose system in it and each speaker has its own amp. do they sell anything like this still?

93 year and they sound awesome!!

its because its bose...EVERYTHING bose I have ever worked with sounds incredible...home/car/professional...doesn't matter what series. It all rocks!

Yes, an amplifier at each speaker is very common with Bose' OEM stuff. Its nice for a stock system, but can really be a PITA when it comes to upgrading peices of the system with aftermarket equipment. Actually Im surprised you didn't run into problems with it while installing the head. Obviously the stock head was passive, all signal level outputs, so I assume you just ran RCA outs only. Hopefully you/he/they invested in a deadhead.

In general Bose is.... okay. There are plenty of audio manufacturers out there with much more cutting edge technology and performance. But nobody seems to market the stuff to the masses as well as Bose.

only thing i needed to do was hook up the amp power wire. sounded great. looking to upgrade, so i am looking at either infinities, or audiobahn

Wait till you go to upgrade the speakers... odd impedance lil suckers. ;) When that tiume comes, you'll probably need to gut the entire Bose setup and replace it with aftermarket speakers and amps.

Glad you're happy with the results.

I'm sorry, I'm not impressed with Bose. Years ago they were the thing too have in a home speaker, but that was way back in the day. In all honesty, I would bypass the factory amp(s), and replace the Bose speakers with something like Infinity Kappa’s. Use a good 4-channel amp too power them with. I honestly believe you’ll be much happier with the sound quality.
