A 6.5 Diesel K5 my boss just picked up. Pretty clean. Guy before him did the swap.

Obviously it was a 6.2 orig. The trans behind it is a th350. Is that a factory option for that?

That looks newer so should be a 700. So the 350 was used cause they probably already had it

I like it. Seems a 4L80E would be a better trans option, if one was going to go through the hassle of the swap.

I'm sure the TH350 went in because it was tons cheaper and easier than going with a 4L80E. To be honest I think the old school 3 speed autos suck behind the diesels because of the narrow power band. If you want highway speeds you need really high axle gears but then the low end power is bad. Unless that engine is really cranked up I would consider a 700r4 simply because it would be cheaper and easier and provide much better gearing both in the low and upper ends.

Also the "variable vacuum regulator"(VRV) that supplies vacuum to the modulator on TH-400 and TH-350's behind a 6.2 in my experience, never seem to let them shift right or at the proper speed, which can lead to a short life due to line pressure woes....and if you want to buy a new regulator, good luck--hen's teeth are easier to find, and have 100+ bucks ready if you can locate one..

The TH700R4 was the only transmission available with the 6.2 in a Blazer except for the M1009 CUCV's.
