I went and looked at it the other day and made the guy an offer. He called me back today and said it was mine if I wanted it. Im going to pick it up tomorrow. I didnt get to look at it real good cause it was dark but it looked pretty clean as far as rust. Its a 1970 K5 350/350auto. 4x4. Needs a motor, rear hatch window, a grill and a lot of cleaning up. Been parked for 5 years. Had a decent looking roll cage in it. I plan on pulling my 72 pickup apart and building the blazer up with the motor trans/t.case, lift and 3/4 ton running gear eventually. I will post some pics up when I get it. Getting it for $1100.

Pics !!

I went and got my blazer today. Ended up giving the guy $1000 for it. Here are some pics I got of it. Its to dirty to see what the floors are like but they felt pretty solid when I banged on them. What do you guys think? Worth it?

Doesn't look bad...still has rocker boxes which is a good sign. Definitely gonna need some rust repair, but from what I can see it;'s a good solid starting point for a great project!

I'd say you did good, it's hard to find a first gen in that price range in any condition.

i like the jimmy front clip way much better than the blazer.does it run?even if it doesnt, that is a awesome deal!i got mine in way worse condition for 2200 back in 1999.bad thing is the body is still just as rough for the most part.just about evertything underneath has bean either rebuilt or upgraded though.id say you did real good on this one.almost all of your pickup parts interchange with this truck.so if anything on it looks betterthan whats on the blazer id swap it.there are not too many of these left in running condition and on the road these days.

It looks like the hood is from a 67-68 truck? Or is that how the Jimmy was back then? It's hard to tell without the grill on it.

No it doesnt run. The p.o. hydrolocked the motor. I checked the title and it was last on the road in 1997.

The front clip has been replaced with a GMC at one point. I think the fenders are from a 69-72 GMC and the hood is from a 67-68 GMC. Havent checked the grill. The radiator support im not sure of. It looks different than any truck one I have seen. Has a filler piece at the bottom, under the grill. Blazer only maybe???

Once I clean it up and determine the extent of the rust I will decide what im doing. If its pretty solid, which I think it is, I will assemble it with all my new parts I have and drive it until I have a place to do rust repair.

That's a good find, congrats. I'm no expert on body panels but the hood and fender lines just look wrong to me. Maybe Chevy fenders w/GMC hood? Also I have a '72 GMC and I dont have that extra filler piece your refering to on the rad support. Weird.

Altogether I think you made a pretty good find. And yeah nice kitty :) .

What does the front of the roll cage mount to?

NV K5, I think your right. The drivers side fender has a c-10 emblem on it. I will be putting a different clip on it anyways. Probably my 1970 GMC. You can see that filler piece in the second to last photo. Never seen it on a truck or suburban.

Rollcage is attached to the floorboard sheetmetal with a plate. You cant see it in the pic because there is carpet padding caked on it. It is one of those cages that a lot of these blazers had behind the front seats. It has had the front part of the cage added on to it. I will see if its useable and safe to add on to. If not I have a buddy that has built cages for drag cars that are certified for 8 seconds.

And the kitty, Jack, is my buddies. Hes a crack up. He beats up his two pitbull/ ridgeback cross dogs all the time.

Awsome find man...when you start your build be sure to post pics over in the 1stgen area. Lot of good stuff going on over there.
