$1300 for a freakin 14bolt? Did Jenna Jameson sit on each one or what?

I'd pay to see that happen and then keep the 14 bolt.

Depends on what is on it. I am going to have to take mine out, clean it up, move the spring pads, get a disc conversion and brakes make all of that work, and I am lucky because mine has a detroit and 4.56'd in it already. If I had paid $200 and still had to do all of that it may start to look better at that price.

i paid
150 for the axle
about 600 for detroit and 4.56's
about 150 for all the disc brake parts
and had to cut off and remount the spring peaches and shock mounts plus the clean up on the greasy rusty old alxe
plus all the small stuff that adds up

i think it ended up costing me about 1000 all together
so i guess its not that bad figureing in labor
that is if thats 1300 for disc brakes and locker with it

It is still to high because you can find 14 bolts out of the m1008 trucks with a detriot locker and 4.56 gears for around 200 bucks.

14 bolt - free
5.13s $199
Master install $100
welded spiders-free

disk brakes:
brakets $65
rotors $60
callilpers $33
pads $20
brake lines $40

It cost a Chevy dealership $2400 to rebuild a 14 bolt that exploded under one of the dump trucks at my old job. The only part they re-used was the housing. New gears, new gov-lock, axleshafts, brakes, bearings, seals. So it really isn't that bad.

$1300 is not bad he spent $517 wth no locker or labor add labor and locker and thats going to be the cost or really close.

i got my 14 off a mud bogger for $100, it had 5.13 and was welded. but i had to get the brake parts, it is just the stock drum set up. i'd say i got less than $250 in it.

Yeah, but he welded his rear so there is no need for a locker. And most of us on here will probably do our own installs (except maybe ring and pinion) so labor is free. anyways heres what i paid for mine:
14ff, 4.56 gears, detroit locker, brand new in a crate and still had the factory gear marking compound on the gears: $550.:wink1:
