My 79 C20 was finally due for new tires on the front. The alignment shop found a worn pitman arm and idler arm as well a a bad lower control arm and one of the bfg at ko tires had a huge bubble.
I decided to replace the pitman and idler, as well as a bad upper ball joint I found, at my uncles shop. The new idler did not come with the mounting bracket to the frame. My uncle whaled on it a bit with a dead blow before getting out the air hammer and pickle fork.
It looks like the arm could have bent a fraction of an inch. It was aligned after all the work and checked out fine and drives like a dream. It is surprising how tight the steering is, now.
Would the alignment take care any small movement that happened to that idler arm, or will it cause issues such as tire wear. All appears good, but I don't want a nasty surprise later.
Oh yeah, the new tires are 265/75-16 bfg all terain ko2 and they ride great. The back tires are still 33x12.50-16.5 all terain ko, and are in great shape.
Thanks
