Pulled up at a light this afternoon and heard a hissing sound when the brakes are applied then in about 30 secs the truck just died. I'm thinking the brake booster may have a leak inside that causing this. Does anyone else have any ideas? Thanks?

did you remove crusie control recently?

i got bit by this one. older cc system has vac dump switch on brake pedel. forgot to by pass this line. swaped 2 boosters before i found it out. :doah:

Mine is an '84 model, where exactly would that cc dump be and what does it look like? I would definitely like to check that out before purchasing a new booster.

hmm, gonna have to check this out on my blazer. when i apply the brakes the idle speed slows a little , and when it's warming up, it makes it want to die when i apply the brakes.

switch next to brake light switch on brake pedel. has a big 1/4 or 5/16 vac line to it and goes to engine.

that's only if it has cruise correct? i've never seen it before, don't remember scrapping a truck that had it.

Well, my truck does have cruise control, so I'm definitely going to check that out as soon as I get home this evening.

Well guys, sweetk30 nailed it. It was the cruise control switch on the brake pedal that was causing the hissing noise. I plugged that line coming of the back of the intake and problem solved. Thanks man I really appreciate it.
