I'm replacing my calipers. When I took the mounting bolts off there were NO washers.

When I removed the banjo's bolts out, only one had a washer.

My calipers came with two washers similar in size to the one that was was 'under' the banjo bolt. I had assumed they were for the caliper bolts are these actually supposed to be used with the banjo bolt?

When PROPERLY ASSEMBLED, where/how many washers should I use?

Please help!

EDIT - logic tells me that given that the washer under the banjo bolt was brass and those that came with the calipers are also, that the washers are for the banjo bolt. I don't recall ever seeing washers used with caliper bolts either. If I'm correct it still leaves me wondering how many washers am I supposed to use with the banjo bolt?

Typically there should be two washers per bolt. One under the bolt head between the line, and one between the line and caliper. I don't know of any exceptions to the rule on this even though you only had one when you removed it. I have seen them get imbedded and stick to the caliper which would make it appear that there is only one.

Nice! Thanks man. If there are any alternate opinions please post otherwise I'm gonna giv'er! Really appreciate the help! :waytogo:

Closer inspection reveals that the washer actually was stuck to the banjo fitting (block). I guess they actually are recessed so I didn't see them with the filth.

Last question then. The new ones are a bit thicker and a bit smaller in diameter. Is it best to replace the old ones, or leave them be?

I always replace them, as they have a certain amount of "crush" to them. If the inside diameter is the same and the outside is reasonably close you should be fine as long as they seat properly on flat, smooth surfaces.

Finished! I think everything is alright. Seems like the rotors are pretty hot but truth be told I've never touched them after driving before.

The heat is definitely coming from the rotors and not the hub. I was a little concerned with the torque on the spindle nut as I went ahead and did the Ford nut mod so leaving the norm was a little unnerving. Pretty sure that all is well there.

Tires on, off the ground I can get about 3/4 rotation with a pretty moderate pull. It's equal on both sides. You CAN hear a bit of a drag though.

The crush washers were replaced and there has been no leaking, thanks again.

Next week or so I'll be replacing the brake hose with longer steel braided, and replacing the spindle studs.
