what can I do to get rust out of the inside of brake calipers. They are brand new so I hate to go buy new ones. What about that sulfuric acid stuff they use to get rust off to prep for primer?

Phosphoric acid is the stuff you mean. Now, if it were me, I would replace them. The brakes are one thing I wouldn't skimp on. The calipers are only 16-29 dollars at Napa depending on which one you have.

If they are brand new, I would bring them back and get a replacement under warranty.

By brand new I mean, they were new and got put on and then I had to leave the country for two years while the truck sat outside. Dont know if Advanced auto would take them back or not. I might have to call them about that this week and see what they say.

I was watching chop cut rebuild and they used sulfuric acid and baking soda to remove the surface rust it looked like. I know that baking soda will neutralize the acid so maybe that we to get it off?

Muriatic acid is probably what you're thinking of. I've seen it used to remove rust and WOW does it work.

Inside? Like, inside where the brake fluid is held? And on the piston surface inside the caliper? If so, replace them. If you don't, as the brake pads wear, the rusted area of the piston will push past the piston seal and will leak. Or worse, it will fail.

If it's just surface rust, deal with it however. Just be careful not to get that acid on the rubber seals and such, and don't let it get inside the caliper. I would just wire brush and sand paper then prime and paint.

Yes, on the inside. I am going to see if i can get them to replace them otherwise I guess I will be buying them again.
