i just hooked a trailer to my k5 for the first time since i had it. the controller was in the truck when i bought it. it is a kelsey pendulum type. the problem im having is with what the manual calls "automatic mode" which is when the brakes work normally with the trucks brakes. for some reason, it just doenst work. you can use it manually and it works fine. anyone else have a problem like this? im thining the controller is just crap. im goina try taking it apart and making sure the pendulum is still moving freely and everything. if it is, im goina try a new controller. anyone have any other ideas/suggestions?

I would just get a new one. there are ones that will work so much better and they do not cost much compared to being able to stop. I suggest the new Tekonsha P3.

before you take it apart you need to make sure that the trailer brakes are all adjusted properly. the controller may be sending the signal but the brakes are not tight enough. also if the controller is adjustable turn it all the way up and try it. it also may not be mounted at the right angle. take a pic of how it is adjusted. I see trucks everyday that have the controllers near verticle, :doah: they are useless like that.

i did make sure it was level, so i took it apart and theres the problem. something is wrong with the pendulum assy. so i just bought a new one from ebay.
