hey guys, so I just did new drilled and slotted rotors and ceramic pads on the front of my k10 and when I apply the brakes theres a light grinding/rubbing noise when I apply the brakes. and it just sounds like the pads on the rotors. is this just because they aren't broken in yet?:dunno:

Possibly, but brakes shouldn't be noisy. I'd check and make sure that the pads are installed correctly and there isn't any debris stuck between the pad and the rotor.

well I know theres Greece from my filthy hands so maybe a little dirt dust is there anything beside brake clean I can spray on the rotors to clean them carb choke cleaner?

Brake cleaner is the best but carb cleaner should be fine. Make sure you lubricated your brake parts (caliper bolts), and that you installed any anti-squeal shims if your pads came with them (mine didn't).

Using carb cleaner on the wrong brake parts will dry out the rubber components as well.

This must be some sort of race truck I imagine, needing both slotted and drilled rotors with ceramic pads. :tongue1:

Did they bother to inform you that those ceramic pads don't work as effective until they get warmed up a bit?

If you've never had drilled/slotted rotors, there is a distinct noise they can make. It can be described as an audible chatter, but usually isn't felt, just heard. A 'grind' is more severe. Could it be this?

I run ceramic pads on everything, less noise, and the brake dust doesnt stick to your wheels. They dont have to be warm to work. I'd say if anything they work better than your run of the mill semi metalic rotor eaters. And if its your wifes rig the front wheels won't be black all the time, and you can run white letter tires without having to scrub them all the time. Its not hard to tell when simeone has used then vs someone who has read about them online. Just sayin. I've never ran D/S rotors so I won't chime in on that. I wouldn't think they would grind
