brake help??

Hey all,
I am having a brake problem on my 71 Jimmy. I recently replaced my front calipers and have bled the brakes a few times. Now when i press on the pedal, it sinks all the way down and there really isn't much pressure back against the pedal. (not the best feeling when trying to slow down that much metal!). THe brake fluid levels are full and are not going down in the master cylinder. What should I do next??
 
Sounds like you still have air in the lines. Try gravity bleeding them.

1. open both front caliper bleeders.
2. take top of M/c
3. Keep a close eye on the M/C and make sure it has fluid at all times.
4. let drain for a while getting about 2-3 M/c full of fluid through the lines.
5. Close the caliper bleeders.
6. reinstall the mc/ lid.

Now see how they work. you may need to do a normal bleeding proceedure after this to get optimum brake pressure!

Can you detail out a regular bleeding. Perhaps I am doing something wrong there?? Thanks in advance.
 
Regulr bleeding with 2 people:

Have someone sit in the drivers seat and pump up the brakes and hold the pedal. While they are holding the pedal open one of the bleeders and hold open until the fluid stops flowing. the close the bleeder and have them pump the brakes again(4 or 5 pumps) and then hold the pedal. As they are hold ing the pedal, re-open the bleeder.. Do this at each caliper 3-4 times or until you can see there is no more air coming out of the bleeder screw and only fluid is coming out..

The m/c cap must be on during this style proceedure and also make sure there is plenty of fluid in the m/c at all times.

And ensure the pedal-pumping is SLOW--too fast and the fluid will aerate and you'll NEVER get the M/C bled without powerbleeding...


If at first you don't succeed, failure may be your style...

You sure you put the right caliper on the right side? I've seen it happen before where someone puts one on the wrong side. The bleeders are supposed to be at the top of the caliper.
