brake line differences between years

They gave you the wrong number, according to the link. I assume "F" in the part number is Fuel, "B" being brake. CTB9041 is also pricey, but shows it as an 11 piece kit, no idea what that includes.

Can't comment on the year changes, it does not appear they made the mistake of confusing the IFS truck series with the '87-91 R/V series that you have, for some reason they have it listed separate of the earlier years.

But hell what could be different...

I am pretty sure this truck doesn't have ABS. That's the only thing I could see really being different.

You tried looking up the brake hoses somewhere like napaonline or rockauto?

When I'm wondering what is going on with different part numbers, I'll often use those places to look up the same part for a couple of different years.

I'm sure someone here knows for sure what, if anything, changed though.

Only thing I can think of would be at the caliper end, I'm not aware of any changes made to the frame that would affect the line to the caliper.
 
They have there lines on Ebay cheaper than on their website.

I can't find them anywhere else.

Well LMC has them but I'm not buying those.
 
My Jimmy is a 90 I blew out one of the hard lines the other day.

The one going to the RH front.

I went to http://www.inlinetube.com/PDF catalogs/2010 Customer catalog PDF COLOR/Customer catalog index.htm

The online catalog only shows blazers 81-87 and the cost is $185 for Stainless steel.


I called them and the kid told me for my 1990 full size jimmy the part number is CTF9041 and cost $250.00

There should be a "T" fitting where the two front lines come togather in the front. The earlier trucks had the proportioning valve at that location. The front lines from that point to the calipers should be the same.
 
I would think the 81-87 kit should work for you. And without ABS you should have a prop valve right on the front frame cross member like an 87 would.

I didn't look too hard but couldn't find a part number containing "9041" to see what they looked up for you. Maybe they are unaware this bodystyle continued through to 91 with ABS (rear only) being the only change to the brake system.
 
FWIW, the 1990-91 Blazer/Jimmy/Suburban DO have ABS, just a horrible abortion mess of rear-wheel-only. You can find the module right up by the master cylinder -- the wires sticking it out are the dead giveaway.

I didn't see an rpo code for it but that might be it. I really didn't dig around for it but where is the pump? My corvettes have had abs for a while and have a pump. But it's all good.

There is no pump. On the side of the master you should have a small electronic module and the proportioning valve plus a wiring harness. It's a very simple system to keep the rear brakes from locking up.
 
After looking at those prices, why would you want to buy it premade? You could buy a quality flaring tool, a bender if you want it to look exact, and a roll of line and come in way cheaper? plus you will be able to fabricate every line on your vehicle other than powersteering for only a few bucks each.

How much is your time worth?

It was just easier for me at this time to do it this way.

Besides I would have to buy the tool the line then the ends and that would take time to research and so on. So for me this was quick and easy.

Btw it was the correct line for my truck and I'm very happy with it.
