one of my brake pistons has the chrome flaking in a few spots.
a mechanic buddy laughed at me when I had it on the bench to replace with rebuilt.
has anyone tore into a fresh rebuilt to check piston condition?

anyway on topic again.
where does one begin the search for brake pistons?
wonder what a stainless setup would cost to have built?

Any good reputable parts store should be able to get them for you.

raybestos part #
piston dps85051
seal kit wk806

the local partsman (who by the way also delivers pizza tRusty can confirm that) gave me the 'no such thing cant be bought that way must by the whole rebuilt caliper'.
THEN I got lucky, my persistance caught the attention of another partsman and he came and flipped the page in the Raybestos book to the correct page and viola, part #s.
now I need a source as I am certain I can beat $35 for a piston and $15 for a seal kit.

anyone try tose Russel speed bleeders?

That was pretty good pizza.../forums/images/icons/cool.gif

Hard to trust a parts guy that drives an Exploder though./forums/images/icons/wink.gif

rebuilt lifetime guarantee calipers only cost me 25 dollars apiece.i think this is what i paid.cant find receipt so when it goes ill have to buy it again.why not just replace them and forget about trying to rebuild them every time?

rebuilt Raybestos caliper was $70ish for the dana 60
I have used too many 'lifetime warantee' parts to bother getting any more.
rebuilding a caliper takes minutes.
use air compressor to blow piston out
clean/inspect parts
replace as necesary, piston-hydraulicseal-mudseal-bleed screw
