What are some obvious signs that a power booster is starting to go bad? I think mine is acting up. Sometimes when I hit the brake pedal it's pretty stiff and it sounds like air is hissing under my dash, and others it's just fine. /forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif

That sounds like it. Mine in my Suburban went out recently. Basically felt the same without the motor running. When it was running, you could hear vacuum leaking.

That's not what I wanted to hear!! /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif I just dumped $400 into axles. I don't want to have to spend another $70 on a booster.

Thanks for the responses and information! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

The funny part about that is that I could probably send an email or 2 and have a buddy of mine go pull it and ship it to me. /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

I appreciate the offer, but I haven't talked to the guy in a few years. He probably wouldn't appreciate it if I emailed him just to go pull and ship a part for me. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

you can test them, get a manuel, I forgot how but i remember testing mine and it wasnt the booster

nothing wrong with using one from a parts truck, i have done this a few times, and this is what most all the 67-72 guys have to do

That's what I'm planning on doing. I can't afford a new one right now. Plus I've got to replace both top u-joints on my rear cv shaft, and the seal and bushing on the back of the t-case. I just noticed this afternoon that all of those are loose. My luck just seems to be getting worse and worse. /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif

On top of all this, I'm broke, and my parents are coming in town for a week next wednesday!!

well, i know u can test them by pumping the pedal a few times with the engine of, and the pedal should get nice and hard /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif, then when u start it it should drop a few inches or so..
