need a little help. I have a 97 silverado. I was having problems with my brake lights coming on as well as the shifter dissengage from park. Today I just changed the brake switch at the end of the brake pedal. That fixed the dissengagment so now I can shift the auto from park without having to jam the pedal to the floor. Now however I have NO brake lights when I press the pedal. I checked the fuse and it was fine. My blinkers work as well. Any suggestions?

Theres power to the lights? do they light up when the headlights are on? Try adjusting the switch to where when the pedal isnt depressed, the switch is to where it has pressure, thus sending power to the brakes. See if they light up.

May just be out of adjustment.

on the 97 there isn't a switch like our blazers. That when the pedal is pressed the switch lets off and gives power to the brake lights. the 97 switch is conected at the pivot point where the pedal meets the push rod for the booster. I do have power when the head lights are on and I have power when the blinkers are on, just not when I press the break pedal.

Gotcha, so when the switch is relesaed is when it lights up?

You hooked everything up correctly? Bulbs are good right? haha

That is the thing. I don't know actually how the thing works. Here are the pictures of the brake switch it is pretty plug and play so I am not sure where to go from here. Click on the pictures to be able to see the discriptions

I know you were all waiting in suspense

I found the problem. boy do I feel stupid.:o Now I checked all of the compontants that I touched. The brake switch, plugs and the pigtail. I checked the fuse under the hood and the one in the fuse box. still no brake lights. Well come to find out the fuse I checked was the right one. :doah:Ichecked the one for Brake while the one that was blown was the one for stop/haz. Well good thing is that everything is working the right way.
