I'm trying to get my 76 K5 back on the road and the last thing keeping me was bleeding the rear drums, but they were just trickling fluid and not engaging after going through a whole bottle of fluid. I took this to mean a stuck proportioning valve, seeing as I replaced a bunch of lines, wheel cylinders, etc.

Anyway, I set about trying to reset it and ended up snapping off the 40 year old brittle plastic sensor, so at this point I'm just needing a new valve I guess (why not, I've replaced everything else right? lol)

Anyone use these after market ones? I'm having trouble finding OEM. Found this on Amazon, but I'm worried about the quality, considering it's a pretty important part, lol

fyi you do NOT need to remove the sensor .

the end has a rubber cap . remove it and hold the pin all the way in flush with the face it rides in . they make a tool to hold it if your by your self .

once there is good flow to the rear it will stay were it needs to be .

a stock unit is just a tee for the front and restrictor for the rear flow . then a switch if the system looses pressure on a line it trips .

i have not needed to replace one . except for disk / disk upgrades . then i did adjustable rear valve and tee the front . but now you can buy this little guy all built in to one with warning switch . https://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-g3906/overview/ and i just used this bracket to mount mine at the master under the hood when i replumbed my whole truck . had to flatten the bracket to work on my big master/hydroboost unit . https://www.summitracing.com/parts/wil-250-14059/overview/

few test drives and brake hits you can dial it in to were you like it real easy .

oh that looks like a nice setup! I'm hoping to do a rear disc conversion here in a few years, so I'll bookmark those. For now, mine's plumbed up and mounted to the front crossmember under the fan shroud. I just went ahead and ordered the replacement, I figure I'll have to pull it out to replace the warning switch anyway, may as well. I'll keep the original on the shelf and just swap the switch if the new one gives me grief.
