ok i just replaced all new brakes in the front of my truck and bleed them and still had a soft pedal so i bleed one side in the back and only one side because one bleeder screw is stripped when i bleed them my brake fluid is very very dark and dirty its almost black and i was wondering if this could affect my pedal or not/

first why start new thread. had a good one going on your old one. and makes it much faster to keep up with the story.

and yes bad fluid for sure and will effect pedal.

need to fix / replace the wheel cylinder on bad side and reblead. new one is cheep under 20 bucks .

try this to fix and run what ya got first

K = keep
I = it
S= simple
S=stupid

not saying your that but untill you grasp the whole idea of the truck world and driving as a hole being new to this truck and driving i would not be making major changes to a important system till you know what your doing.

and to answer the question in depeth the master is sized to the calipers and wheel cylinders to work correctly if you make one in that setup to big or to small you upset the balence and get bad results.

and also as said the 1 ton stuff is to big over the 10 bolt stuff and wont fix correctly. also it wouldnt get you much over the brakes you have as you still have smaller shoes and drums in the back . 1 ton brakes are MUCH bigger shoes and drums for more surface area to effect the working force to stop .

hope this helps as you need to just get it going and have fun dont fall in to the pit like the rest of us and do 1000 mods a year and never get to play with it. thats why i have 5 big rebuild projects at this time. and 1 hasnt been touched in 10 years :doah:

and all local partsstores around here will have the stuff you need or next day it.

im just getting alittle impatient because the truck needs the brake pedal stiffened up gas gauge fixed and ispected by saturday night

Yes. Can you not even get a socket on it?

Edit, not always but I think on these trucks it does...

nope its just stripped bad needle nose vice grips cant even stay on it its so stripped

Needle nose vice grips strip things worse than they help in my experience. Well if you get a new one take a hammer/chisel and just snap the old one off if you don't have any twist off sockets or bolt-outs. You could also try some regular vice grips or some parrot-beak pliers if you have them.

up here in the rust salt belt these suckers RUST IN BAD. :doah:

there cheep and life isnt just replace it .

and all good things come to those who wait. and if your not ready it was ment to be for a reason as things have a way of working out for a bigger plan than we dont understand.

but gas gauge dont fail inspection . bring a 5 gal can full with ya just incause.

and fix the brakes and run it.

how does the drum come off? im going to change the wheel cylinder right now and im curious how the drum comes off just bear it off?

After you remove the wheel it should just slide off. You may need to persuade it with a few blow from a soft mallet.
