I need to put pads on the front of my 87 K5, but it has a Dana 44 3/4 ton axle and I don't know what pads to order.

Second question is I need extended brake lines as I found out when I put my truck on the hoist this weekend. It has about 8 inches of lift. Who/where do we get these from? I found some online but was wondering if we have a preferred vendor or choice of manufacturer.

Thanks in advance guys.
Mike

i don't know about pads for the axle, it probably depends on what year truck the axle came from, i may be able to find some info on it...

for the extended brake lines, Stephen at Offroad Design (www.offroaddesign.com) has stainless ones, Kert at www.diy4x.com could probably get you some as well, check the site and give em a call

Pads will be the same between 1/2ton & 3/4ton and 2/4wd. So it really doesn't matter if you use the year of the D44 or your K5.

For the lines, you need to know if you are using the D44 calipers or the factory 10B calipers. The banjo bolt is a differnt thread between the two. I've gotten two sets from OffRoadDesign without any issues.

If you've got 10 bolt calipers, you can get a set of stock lines for an 88+ 2wd pickup. They're about 5 inches longer than yours and have the proper fittings on both ends. I think I paid $12.99 for mine.

That's assuming that an extra 5 inches will do it for you... if your lift demands more line length, ORD is indeed a good place to get custom lines. Once you get them installed, make sure they're not hitting the inside edge of the tire... most guys make some sort of "keeper" for them like using an old soft spring to keep them pulled back off the tire on the road but still allow full extension when the suspension flexes out.

I'm going to order some new calipers loaded with pads to rid myself of confusion. I talked to ORD and will order the lines tomorrow. Probably the steering box brace and weld in plate also. From what I've read, this is a problem that if it hasn't happened, it will. He also told me to check my crossmember at the motor mounts.

You won't be disappointed with ORD's stuff. Good people to deal with.
