Swapped my brake rotors after only a couple of thousand miles. Not sure what happened here, but both rotors were grooved to hell. Matched the pads. Both the pads and rotors were changed at the same time. Rotors were Bosch quietcast I think, and pads were just autozone ceramic.

Anyone have any thoughts on why this happened? Kinda hard to tell in the photos but the rotors are grooved like a record...

Both sides of both rotors, so it wasn't something like a stuck piston/caliper dragging ect. Didn't see any excessive dust/debris.. Maybe bad rotor casting or some kind of incompatiblity in the pad?

Yeah, it does look like it, but being both sides of both rotors, it would have to have been a lot of something. The other thing that is kinda odd, is the 'crumbling' of the pad on the relief cut down the center. looks like some of the pad material broke off.. Just realized that.

Maybe that's what caused the grooves?

car or truck?

I've used dozens of sets of those pads without any problems btw.

I had something funky on mine too (pads mainly). Brought it back to O'Reilly and they warrantied the rotors and pads out. Free replacement on both because their pad did this.

These were on my G8

I saw the continental rubber and figured it was on something fun. Did you buy the bosch rotors through vatozone too? I'd be tempted to return the pad and the rotors (as mentioned above) if that's the case.

I'm not familiar with the rotors, have you looked to see if they need a specific pad?

Interestingly enough, I just got the continental's. And there is something wonky on them. Got a shake at speed. Was trying to be thorough and decided to make sure the rotors were swapped out before I go back and complain about the tires. extreme contact sport. for the most part they're quiet and ride well, and stick decently. They only have a couple of hundred miles on them.

Got another set for my Camaro that are going on this weekend - I'm in the middle of a suspension rebuild on that.

I've had a couple sets of those and been pretty happy with them. The only negative comment I can think of was the flat spots after the car sat for a couple days but it goes away once you get them warmed up.

Fix rotors/pads under warranty and then hit tire shop if no change. Get new tires. I foresee a lot of free stuff for you if you play your cards right.

I already replaced the pad/rotors. They were crapped up so I just ordered powerstop kit.

Will be headed to discount to look at the tires though. Did it from day one. I only put about 200mi a month at most on the car so it doesn't get driven a ton. If it were flat spots it should have rounded out though. I've done 50mi trips on the hwy and it's still shaking. Only in the front end, and centers around 58mph.

The cars I had those tires on were my weekend toys so the limited usage wasn't a problem. Just got a little thump, thump, thump down the road for a minute. I could definitely feel it in the steering of the 911 with the light front end but it was gone within a few miles.
