I am wondering how much of a difference there is in braking power between a D60 and an 8 lug D44/10B. Does anyone have a feel for that, or know where I can find some brake specs?

I'm pondering a crazy idea of putting GM 3/4t outers on a Furd housing so as to use the NV4500/ BW4407 I got a hold of. But I sort of have a hard time de-nutting my old '79 K30 that way even though the D60 could go into my '90 Jimmy.:doah:

Thanks

Oddly enough i know this because i changed to a 60 from a 8 lug 10 bolt and didnt realize at the time i had a kinked line going to the back. So i was basically on front brakes only and the difference is a huge one the 60 stopped the truck sooooo much better.

yeah, what Eric said. Though I haven't felt the difference yet, just handling both axles and rebuilding them you get the feeling they undersized K10s and K20s LOL

Thanks guys! That's what I don't want to do to this truck is decrease the braking power as I like it as is. It doesn't need the strentgh of the 60, but I like brakes!

i ran for around 1 year dana 44 8 lug with 36" tsl and did good . then swaped in hydro boost and dana 60 and oh my what a diffrence. then i did adj prop valve to rear with disk brake rear and made even better .

My K30 has hydro on it, but I don't want to downgrrade the brakes. I put hydro on my '70 after not getting the results I wanted, with the clearance at the A/C compressor, after I installed the rear disc. I just keep thinking that if I used the D60 under this truck for my Jimmy, I could sell the other D60 I have to help fund tires!
But after all the years that I drove heavy wreckers, I really appreciate good braking power!!!!
