On a 1990 Jimmy. The sequence is:

8 short, 1 long

What's wrong with my brakes? /forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif

You have the rear wheel antilock brakes is what's wrong with them. /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif

I seem to recall my Burb doing a code 81 ... now, there are a coupla different controllers. Mine was the Kelsey Hayes, as indicated by the KH on the plastic computer box by the master cylinder and brake booster.

I seem to recall 81 being a general actuator failure, so I just unplugged the computer and taped the connections up, so as to avoid corrosion, and to turn the light off.

Could be bad actuator solenoid thing, goo in the lines, lots of stuff, IIRC /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

These ABS systems are pretty primitive, and only work on the rear axle and only in 2WD, so it's not like they're ALL that useful.
