I am going to replace my Master Cylinder in my 71 Blazer. I have a D 60 front C14 rear with discount all around. Currently I have no parking brake. I'm going to fix that while I'm replacing the Master Cylinder. I'm looking into one that bolts on to my NP205. My question is while I'm doing this is there any recommendations anyone would give. Like brands, sizes, upgrades, etc. I don't want to go cheap and regret not doing something.

I don't recommend going hog-wild with mixing and matching parts on the premise that they're "upgrades." It took me months to UN-upgrade one of my trucks until it worked properly :doah:and that was going back to stock-type parts.

That said, you might do well with the master for a 3/4-ton of the same vintage. I'm not sure about your generation of truck, but I know for '73+ the 1-tons had hydroboost instead of a vacuum booster. This is a good thing IF you swap the whole system, but it's a ton of work to source all the parts and I don't know the details for your year.

Were it me, I'd get a new, not reman, master for a '71 K20 and call it good.

I had a feeling :)

Anyways in a effort to be a little more helpful I swapped from vacuum booster to a hydroboost setup in my 1970 Chevy pickup. It made a big difference in pedal travel, but I had 3/4 ton axles with drums in the back. Also I swapped from whichever master cylinder was on the vacuum booster (probably from a 1977 Chevy suburban) to whatever was on the hydroboost system (Hard to say because it had swapped onto a vehicle i bought).

The swap was fairly easy. I ended up trimming corner off a corner of the mounting bracket and lengthening the push rod which connects to the pedal. I didn't end up changing pedals and the alignment was good. Been this way for a year and still going strong.
