A friend of a friend recently won a government auction that contained a crate of misc. items, including around 30 (yes, thirty) brand new J-code single plenum truck version (not Hummer) intakes.

A buddy is picking one up for me this weekend. Let me know if anybody is interested and I will put you in touch with the guy. I believe he's asking $20 each.

SOB...where was he a month ago?

Nice score.

I'm out of town this week on business and don't have the contact info with me. Friend at work was supposed to pick me one up this weekend, if so I will make sure it's the same as the picture and get the guy's info.

Got my intake...just like the pictures showed....brand new...mine was still in the original box that had never been opened.

I believe the guy has a post about them on www.m715zone.com and Steel Soldiers, and is located in Cincinatti, Ohio.

Again, he is a friend of one of my coworkers that found these and he picked me up one last weekend....therefore I don't have his e-mail or phone number yet....been bugging the buy here at work to get me the stuff but he keeps forgetting.

Only issue I see with these are if your are running the original spin on secondary filter. you can not bolt it to the back of the intake like they came from the factory. Other than that this is a hell of a deal.

Gimpyrobb (the owner of these intakes) is a pretty well known member of Steel Soldiers. However the thread on SS has them listed at $50, not $20.

Still a good price. I just paid $70+ shipping for a used (but clean) J code intake like these.

Still can't get the contact info from my co-worker, and can't get on Steel Soldiers from work....maybe you could post the info or a link to the post?

Maybe he did more research and found out the worth? I did tell my co-worker they usually go for at least $50, but I also read his original post on the M715zone page and it said $20.

Hey,

checked steelsoldiers and found the thread. Unfortunately I can't become a member of this page as the register-function has been disabled by the moderator of the steelsoldiers-forum.

So, does anyone of you have the emailaddress or contact info of the seller of the intakes?

Greetings

Flo

I'll send him a message for you. PM me your email address.

Sorry for leaving everybody hanging on this one. Bugged the guy here at work probably 20 times to get me the contact info and he never did.......

Finally got around to putting the new intake on last night and found it needs a few modifications to work.

There is an extra cast-in mounting tab with a drilled and tapped hole on both sides in the rear. In the first picture look on the driver's side rear runner, right above the GM parts tag. On the bottom picture look right below the parts tag on the passenger side and the corresponding tab on the drivers side.

You have to chop off the tab on the passenger side for sure as it hits the vacuum pump...you can't even get the manifold down against the engine. Not sure on the drivers side but I went ahead and chopped it off to.

Also, on the flanges around the bolt holes on the front and back I had to trim them up a little to fit. The back drivers side goes right up against the glow plug controller bracket and the fronts sit right against the thermostat housing pipes, again not letting the manifold sit flush.

It got late so I didn't try much, but appears I will also need to hog out the bolt holes like mentioned in the stickied manifold swap article. I could start the bolts on the passenger side but couldn't on the drivers side. Looking down into the holes they appear to be slighty off.

Not 100% sure what these are for as the 6.2 versions don't have this tabs. Thinking maybe the late model 6.5's with the engine cover????

Interesting. Have to remember when I have my truck inside to take the air filter assembly off and look at the part number on mine. Mine was literally bolt on. No trimming or hogging required.
