Can I use a regular battery charger to trickle charge it overnight? This is what I have, but no charger...

Fred,

Yes you can. Once you hook it up to the trailer, make sure that one of the wire is a direct 12 volt feed, as when the trailer is hooked up to the tow rig, it will charge the battery. When it's disconnect it looses charge.

The 7 pin connectors have an extra/aux wire for 12 volt feed, for when it hooked up to the tow rig. Just make sure you use a heavier gauge wire for the Aux feed.

Thanks. I've heard that leaving that little battery hooked up to the tow rig that way will ruin it /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif, and most people use a little charger you can get from Tekonsha or Hoppy.

Found the info I needed, 1.2 amps max, makes sense, seeing as it's a similar battery used in UPSs.

My trailer came with a box similar to that except that it has a built in charging system... It charges off of the tow rig but it regulates it to what the battery needs to not damage it.
