:confused:So i bought this exhaust off craigslist where the guy swore it was off a blazer.... wow... last time i buy something off craigslist off a vehicle at night in the pouring rain.

Anyways... it doesnt fit... :doah:

And all that's left to crank the new (rebuilt) motor is the exhaust, fluids, prime, timeing, and fire it up...

Question is - Can I break it in open header? Keep in mind it has to run at 2200 - 2500 rpm for 20-25 minutes... I might be able to hook this exhaust up un der the truck, prop it up on cement block as the hangers dont come close to lineing up for the break in.... But if I cant get it to work.. can it be broke in open header? besides being obnoxiously loud...?

Never run a new engine with open exhaust, you can't hear much if there's a problem with the engine.

X2, plus the tuning will be different between open headers and the exhaust you'll eventually install.

i have done it, but yes you cant hear of theres any funny noises etc. its not under a load so the tuning isnt that critical.

you mainly are trying to get a heat cycle in, once the cam and lifters have been heated and cooled thay wont eat each other. the elevated rpm is to keep alot of oil on them as the lobes are lubed by the oil spinning off the crank from the rods.

If they are coated headers, you don't want to break it in on them anyway. Hedman specifically states this in their instructions.

thanks Guy's,

I'm gonna bolt of the exhaust i have and rest it on cement blocks for the break in... I'll take it to the muffler shop about 2 miles away after she's broke in (next week).

PS - Scott - Kick dustin when you see him for me :)

He's alread in enough pain as it is. We just got back from the show in Half Moon Bay and the back of his neck looks like a lobster. :haha:

I'm feeling a little red myself too. :doah:

Dustin wanted me to take this pic since his camera memory became full. I might as well post the pic for everyone to see. He really liked her with the pink hair and all. :D
