I used Mothers mag and aluminun polish, I have only done 2 wheels due to how time consuming it is. I figure They will look good as new and for only $5!!! I got them with the axle swap I recently did. What do you guys think, any noticeable difference /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Can you give me the exact process of what you did? (spray with water?, cloth rag?, etc). I've got a set that I should probably polish up before I sell them. Also, did you put anything on afterwards...like a clearcoat or wheel wax...to protect them?

Thanks.

I had a bucket of soapy water and a brush, I would spray degreaser then scrub w/ the soapy water. After it dried i applied the polish according to the instructions. I found going over a second time really makes the differnce, also it will help you not having the rims on a vehicle /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I was thinking the same thing! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I thought I was going to see some stock wheels spruced up...oh well... /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif

Re: Breathed new life into 20 yr old stock rallies-Pic\'s

I was thinking the same thing! Rally wheels are stamped steel with a polished stainless beauty ring and a center cap. /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif The factory alloy wheels that were used on many 2nd gens don't have the rivets around the perimeter. They were also clear cloated so that you don't have to worry about the aluminum getting dull. (Though they can get pretty ugly when the clear coat gets damaged and water gets under it). /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

But those wheels cleaned up quite nicely and look awesome! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I thought those wheels were from the factory. My 10 bolts had the exact same wheels except in 6 bolt?? I just assumed they were a factory option /forums/images/graemlins/shame.gif My bad!

Do you want a prize?

Here *prize*

They look pretty good for being so old, I'd have painted them though.....

Thanks I will put that on my mantle /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif

Ya I hate my Factory Alloys, the clearcoat is all screwed up on them, Im thinking about trying to strip it off somehow, polish the living hell out of them, and reclear coat them....our just find some other ones in better shape /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
