Breather tube?

Good evening everyone,

Went to check the oil in my 1988 GMC Jimmy Sierra Classic this evening, and noticed that the breather hose (atleast that's what I think it is), was disconnected from the air cleaner housing. After further inspection, looks like this hose is not original, there's electrical tape on the valve cover side, I assume that was to make it snug. This was on the passenger side valve cover. The driver side valve cover has the PCV valve on it, and that routes to the bottom of the throttle body.

Link to the photos above.

Is this the breather hose? And where can I find replacement parts? I'm just not sure what to search for.

Thanks in advance!

It is a breather tube. It should go to the back side of a (approx) 1 1/2 ring that is sandwiched between the tbi and air cleaner housing.

Thanks for the reply, I don't see an open place a tube would plug into on the throttle body, this plugs into the bottom of the air cleaner. I'll take some more pictures when I get home.

Is there a better repair manual than the Haynes manual I picked up, that one just seems too generic?

Hey guys (and gals), I updated the picture album. I included a picture of the valve cover hole, where the breather tube comes out, a picture of the air cleaner cover, and one of the throttle body.

I guess all I need to know at this point. Where do I find host adapters for the air cleaner cover and the valve cover? And what size hose should it be?

Thanks again!

I'd take you breather hose to your nearest parts store and match up the parts in the HELP! section the best you can. They usually have various nipples like that. For hose just get a couple of feet of the same size vacuum line.
