Breather tubes

I currently have the caps, but was wondering if a small ballbearing in the end of a vertical tube (metal) would work for vent. Concept being air pressure builds, ballbearing goes up lets out air, if water tries to get in, ball bearing won't allow it (seals at bottom of tube) I know this works in some applications, but wondering if it would be worth trouble in this event. One way flow valve.

Nope, it's gotta let air flow both ways. As the parts heat up, the air expands. As they cool off, it contracts. You don't want to create a vaccum inside those parts. It could suck water/dirt/etc. past the seals and into the parts you're trying keep all that crapola out of.

I suppose some sort of floating ball might work, sorta like the gadget that shuts off the airflow through a shop vac once the tank is filled with water.

LOL! The conduit is just to run from front to back and the rubber tubes will connect to it. I figured 1/2 in. would be big enuff to have flow if it needed it, (dont want it to get plugged up w/ sludge and crap like that.) And I would be able to weld on nipples to connect the hose to. This way I only have 1 line running from the front to the back w/ the rubber lines plumbed in along the way. Its only 1/8" bigger than you said your gonna use.
